Over the years, Hugh Royer, III, has worked with PGA, LPGA, Nationwide,
and Hooters Tour players. His experience as a player and as an
instructor for players of all levels gives him a unique advantage
from an instructional standpoint. Few instructors have actually
had the opportunity to play and, most importantly, succeed on the
highest competitive levels. The ability to train the player not
only on swing techniques, but also on aspects such as course management,
and tournament preparation routines are critical in competitive
play regardless of the level.
Royer played professionally for 14 years, which included three years
on the PGA Tour, four wins on the Nationwide Tour, and was a winner
on the South African Tour, where he played for six years. Hugh’s
amateur career was equally as impressive. He was the NCAA Division
II Player of the Year, the Georgia State Amateur Champion, the Southeastern
Amateur Champions, the Western Amateur Champion, the 1987 Amateur
Player of the Year, and was inducted to the Columbus State University
Hall of Fame.
His father, Hugh Royer, Jr., played the PGA Tour for 10 years, and was the 1970 Western Open champion. After his retirement in 2000, he was Director of Instruction at the Columbus Golf Academy in Columbus, Georgia, and also worked three years as an instructor at the International Junior Golf Academy on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Royer has had the privilege of teaching the top professional, amateur, and collegiate players, and his professional credentials and unlimited connections within the golf industry and media gives himand his students a unique advantage.
Scott Shobe has recently been a teaching professional at the PGA Tour Superstore in Duluth, Georgia. Shobe was the former Director of Golf and Head Professional at Olde Atlanta Golf Club in Suwanee, Georgia. Prior to his nine year tenure at Olde Atlanta, Shobe was an assistant professional at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.
During his 15 years of experience as a golf professional, Shobe has gained much knowledge about the golf swing and its fundamentals not only through numerous lessons given, but through the rigors of playing competitively on the Hooters Tour, Tarheel Tour, and various other mini-tours. Shobe is a certified Ping club fitter and has an extensive background in the area of equipment and club fitting.
